We Were Soldiers Together
We were assigned to 191st and 162nd Assault Helicopter Co 1st Avn Bde at Can Tho. Their Helicopter was called Night Hawk. Sometimes I was able to fly with them to get the Air Medal. I went home for a funeral. When I returned I was informed the crew was lost.I had pictures of them in a brief case that was stolen years ago. I was privileged to have known and worked with Him and the crew.

Wow, what do you say about a man you never had the chance to know. This man was and is my father. A father who I never had a chance to know or had the chance to know me or the two beautiful grandchildren he now has. I am very proud that my father served his country but sad that he had to die for it. I have been told he was a gentle and kind man, but there are so many things I do not know and will never have the chance to know. My only hope is that where ever he is he knows that I turned out okay and that I miss him and think of him daily.

This brother sacrificed his life for his nation and his brother in arms. He is a hero of the highest order. With his brothers Vehling, Eddy and Mantooth he rests in the Fiddlers Green.
