I am trying to figure out if I am related to him. I don't have any relatives who would know, but I know my mother was born in Cleveland in 1968 and my grandfather lived in Cleveland for a while, John Michael Brock. If anyone has any information, please let me know!

Well done Marine rest in peace
THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s.
A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine.
Isaiah 43:1

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

OUR BROOKLYN HOME-TOWN HERO
Though James Brock is listed as being from Cleveland, Ohio - his home town was Brooklyn. I was just a young lad when Cpl Brock sacrficed his life for us. I often passed his home and later delivered the newspaper to his wonderful, sweet parents. I remember me and my buddies followed closely beside the soldiers all during the respectful parade to the new play ground dedicated to and named in honor of Cpl. James Brock. We picked up the shells from the fired salute then went on with our young lives. I never felt quite the same though walking past the Brock home after that - I knew the home and those inside would never be the same. Later as their paper boy, though it didn't feel quite right taking their money, I had to collect for the paper each week. I was always greeted by Mr or Mrs Brock who, even though a piece of each had died along with their heroic son, never failed to be just as sweet as they could to this young fellow. One little lad quickly learned where the Brooklyn Home-Town Hero, whose name is now on The Wall, received his strength, and values from. I hope people remember the life and spirit of James Brock and his parents, I always will. I also pray God will bless & comfort the Brock Family and the souls of those who He has already called home. - Harry E. McCormick
