David and Jada, Ricky and Bonnie, Alan and Beth that is how we dated back in that day. Too young, too soon, but mostly too great a loss for his family and friends at the beginning of our lives. David's life should never have left us. We lose touch with our friends as we grow older and raise our families, but we never forget those significant few. David was one of those few.

I remember Dave long ago as a bass guitarist in a band that played in my neighborhood in Suitland. I was 10 years old and he was 10 years older than me. I had the biggest crush on him and remember him as being so grown up and cute. I knew that he was killed in the war but discovered years later, while visiting the wall, that he died on my 11th birthday. I knew him only briefly, but what an impact he had on me. I will remember him today and always.
