DAVID HUGH WYRICK

JOHN  EVERETT
FAMILY FRIEND
FL
I did not know David but knew his family as I grew up just down the road from his parents farm. I knew his sisters as we rode the school bus together. I am sure David was as fine a person as they are. As I am 11 years older than David, as stated, I did not know him nor did I know he was a fellow Naval Officer. I just learned of this and of his death in Viet Nam. I salute him for his service in the Brownwater Navy as that was one of the most dangereous assignments you could think of. May he rest in peace and maybe we will meet some day face to face. John E (Jack) Everett CDR USNR Retired

Wish I could have met you hero
David was the uncle I never met. I looked up info on him and asked lots of questions to his brother and sisters one of whom is my mother. I attended the memorial opening of the Brown water navy at Coronado several years ago. Just wanted to pass it on to his mates that his wife had 2 children(2 sons). His brother has passed but 2 sisters one of who is my mother are still living. He is buried in a small church cemetery in Peoli Ohio next to his parents, close to Cy Young who they knew as an old man. I have pics if anyone wants them. Thanks and god bless!

RIP shipmate, I have thought of you often over the last 40+ years. You are part of the reason I made the Navy my career. David B. Lester, EMC, USN, Ret.
Lt. David Wyrick was the prospective engineering officer attached to the precommishioning unit of the U.S.S Ramsey (DEG-2) in Seattle Wa. and was my department head. I recall that he was sincerly and totally dedicated to our country and the Navy. Having served with and for him, I am sure, made me a better person and sailor. I also recall that even though he was married with children he volunteered for duty in Vietnam. And that, in my opinion, makes Lt. David Wyrick a TRUE AMERICAN HERO.

DAVID WYRICK - A REAL HERO
It was like so many other mornings in Vietnam in a place called Snoopy's Nose, then the Fire Fight started. It was an RPG7 that hit between the starboard 50 mount and the cox's flat. When Mr. Wyrick was hit he told the medic "Don't worry about me I am gone, take care of my boys". He was indeed a Hero to all of us and will always be. There is never a day that I don't think about you Mr. Wyrick and all my other fellow Vietnam Brothers. I ride for you in the "Run For The Wall" this year and wish you could see how many people are coming out to show their appreciation for your ultimate sacrifice. God Bless you Mr. Wyrick. Until we meet again, your forever servant Larry D. Rodgers.

SIR: WE DID NOT KNOW EACH OTHER, NOR DID WE SERVE IN THE SAME BRANCH OF THE MILITARY. HOWEVER, WE BOTH WENT TO A PLACE NO ONE WANTED TO GO, AND DID A JOB NO ONE WANTED TO DO. YOUR SACRIFICE FOR "DUTY,HONOR, AND COUNTRY" IS ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT THE AVERAGE CIVILIAN COULD EVER COMPREHEND. THE SACRIFICES THAT MEN LIKE YOURSELF, ALONG WITH THE OTHER 58,000+ THAT DID NOT COME HOME, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, ETCHED IN BLACK GRANITE ON THE GREAT HEALING WALL IN WASHINGTON,D.C. SIR, REST EASY, I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT YOU GAVE TO A NATION THAT DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT WE WERE DOING IN THE "HELL HOLE" OF THE NAM. "TEN HUT,SALUTE,TAPS".C/1/501/101ST AIRBORNE DIV,NAM,67/68. "GERONIMO".
