I was, a boyhood friend of Carmine, growing up on the Westside, of Buffalo. We did, a lot of things together, that I cannot post here, that all teenage guys know, what I'm, talking about. I remember, when Carmine, came over to my house, to let me, know, that he had, joined, the Marines and I don't believe, anyone, was more proud of him, then himself. He was so proud, to call himself, a Marine. Of course, we did the usual joking, about not volunteering, for anything over a couple, of beers and we talked, about the War and he, made me, the promise that he was, going, to be coming, home, after his tour and that everything was going, to be fine. Carmine was, the first of a few, people, that I knew, killed, in Vietnam, but the others didn't, hurt as much, as his loss. It's been, over, 40, years, now and I still, miss and think, about him, a lot. As a personnel, message, to Carmine, I kept, that promise, I made, to you. You will always, be my FRIEND and HERO.
