A Friend Always
Mike and Family: You are never forgotten. Your wonderful kindness and positive never-quit efforts made our days on the sand-lot football fields of 1960's Napa some of the most fun days I ever had as an athlete. I miss you friend and will never forget.

It is Veteran's Day, 2003. I have come to reflect on each of you from Napa that shared a portion of our lives. Given that I was born in then 'little' Napa during 1947.and by the time we left in the 60s there was still only one High School.I have to believe our paths crossed more than once. At the time you made the ultimate sacrifice, I was in the Air Force. Now, more years later than I can count, here I am.trying to grasp the meaning of it all. We were all so young then. God Bless and Keep You. I will never forget.

Young Love
I met Mike at Lake Berryessa in Napa around 1965. I thought he was the most beautiful man (boy) I had ever met. Of course, I was only 17. He was the first man I felt I really loved. I spent two summers flirting with him. He worked at the front gate. Each weekend when we arrived, my heart pounded as I looked for his car. Later, I received a post card from Michael. He told me he was going into the military. I cried for two days. One day while reading the paper, I saw his wife receiving a posthumous award Michael had died in Viet Nam! That beautfil man, with the brightest blue eyes and a smile that made you melt a fine person inside and out, killed in a horrible war. A year or so later, I sat in a class at Chabot College. Somehow, someone I knew, knew Mike's wife. After class, she told me his wife had been sitting very near to us. I wish I had known. I would have told her how sorry I was for her loss. These aren't just names on the wall, they are lifes lost, dreams crushed, hearts broken. Mike, I am proud of you and will always have a special place in my heart. I will be visiting "the Wall" next Spring. I will stop by and say hello. God Bless you Michael!
