j d Forty years today LCpl:Today, is forty, years, since you gave all, for our country and our Corps. Someday, we will meet in Heaven, with it's streets guarded, by United States Marines. You are in the company, of many forgotten heroes. It is heartening to see, Clarence and Timothy, fellow Marine friends, have visited, your site and wrote comments. These bits, of personal history, are important, to understanding, the lives of men, who served, 'in country,' so many years, ago. With great respect and admiration, from those who returned home, to those, who did not. Semper Fi!!

Clarence Green clarencegreen@va.gov Best Friend 10637, Seiler Road, Apt., 405, New Haven, Indiana, 46774, USA Hi Buddy, its been over, forty one, years, since I last spoke, with you. June 16, 1967, the day I remember, because I left, for boot camp, leaving you behind, because of a technicality, with your medical record. We wanted, to sign up, for the buddy plan in the Air Force, but there was, a six, months, waiting list and I had already, had recieved, my notice to be drafted. We joined, the Marine Corp to be together, but fate, stopped that. It's strange, that I was wounded, Feb.7, 1968 and exactly, one year later, you die Feb.7, 1969. Feburary's, have been hard, for me, Feb., 28, 1969, I was discharged, from the service. For just, about three, months, no one told me, about your death. I have surviver guilt, flashbacks, etc.. Education, is helping me. Semper Fi Oct 27, 2008

Timothy Friedrich tjfrdrch@aol.com Fellow Marine 3523, Waterton Cove, Fort Wayne, IN., 46804, USA A Good Man - A Good Marine Larry and I went, to Boot Camp together, from Fort Wayne in August, of 1967. Larry's attitude and performance, made him a standout, in Boot Camp. I remember, that no one, could even come close, to keeping up with Larry, on the obstacle course. It's funny, the small things, one remembers. We parted company, with a handshake, when we both graduated, from Boot Camp and went, our separate ways. I'll, always remember him, as a good man and a good Marine. Semper Fi. Feb 23, 2008
Fellow Marine Well done Marine rest in peace THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s. A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine. Isaiah 43:1 (REN) Semper Fi! Feb 7, 2008
