VietNam Veterans . . Contributed By Christine Davis On Saturday, February 22, 2003 For all the Veterans that do visit this page I wanted to say THANK YOU for serving our country! I have made it a mission in my live to thank all the veterans that I come across. The ones I see in person I shake their hand. The ones that lost their lives in the war are always in my thoughts. I worked with a man that served in Nam and I shook his hand on Veterans day and thanked him for serving our country. His wife told me the next day I made him cry. The reason being he told me that was the first time in 27 years that he was back on this soil that anyone reconized him. To this this day I still call him on Veterans day and thank him. THANKS AGAIN men and women that served and not everyone feels the way some of the others do. You did what you had to do! It was war! |

Does anyone know? . . Contributed By Dan Amick On Sunday, February 23, 2003 A very good friend of mine is on his death bed this morning. He keeps asking us to bring him his "3 9's" or "three nines". We have no idea what he means by this but believe it has something to do with his time in Vietnam. If anyone has any ideas please email me asap. |

PBS Program about WWII and my view . . Contributed By Chaplain Howard Flexer On Monday, February 24, 2003 The first & formost thing that hit me was How alike those Combat Veterans View was as us later on War Veterans. They could have been letters from anyone of us who went that route. My wife kept telling me not to watch it as she know only too well how my sleep is affected. Somehow I just had to watch if for nothing else to re-enforce my view that only the locations have changed. The Iwo part was the hardest to deal with as well as all the islands that looked so much like Vietnam. My respect and admeration goes to all my Fellow MARINES who were there! May God Bless you for being here to share your love with our great country and our Greater Corps. My feeling have been with you from my Boot Camp days and I hope I've carried your honor with me to Vietnam. I hope that my following those of you who went before me leads those after me to just as proud! SEMPER FI! With God, Then&Now Chaplain P.S. As a MARINE please understand that my love is for All Combat Veterans |

The Vietnam Veterans . . Contributed By Russ Miller On Friday, February 28, 2003 I was born in 1957 and grew up a military (brat) which I'm very proud of. I grew up during the Veitnam War and had a couple of freinds who's dad fought in that war. I have always respected the men and women who fought for me and my country, It's just ashame that the people that were left behind are still on the back burner of our government. I just want to say thank you very much for what's you did. My thoughts and prays go out to everyone, God Bless you and GOD BLESS AMERICA. |

My letter to Editor printed in todays paper . . Contributed By Chaplain Howard Flexer On Monday, March 03, 2003 Monday, March 3, 2003 "Hanoi wrong place for VFW presence" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Editor: First, Vietnam is still a communist country. It did not follow any of the peace treaty. The only reason a U.S. presence is there is for the big-bucks companies. In most other places they are we have our bases there, also. I have nothing against the people of Vietnam. I don't expect others to understand my feelings. I cannot deal with a veterans group that will join those companies and set up an office in Vietnam. My membership with the VFW has always been on thin ice. I have no problem with those who choose to live and work there. That's their choice as mine is to resign in disgust. Yes, I operate a motorcycle that was made in Japan. That was not my war and this one was. We all have our way of dealing with those wars. Just like I never let others forget about Vietnam and perhaps my take on letting go would let down those who never returned. It's my way of saying no to their (VFW) choice. Enough said. "Semper fi" means always faithful and, to me, that's what I am to those who died in my arms. Semper fi, with God. CHAPLAIN HOWARD FLEXER Vietnam War Veterans Flagstaff & Memorial Danielson |
