Hill 881 May 1967 . . Contributed By Steve Dellwo On Thursday, May 18, 2000 I am looking for anyone who has photographs of Navy Corpsman Vernon Wike and LIFE Correspondent Catherine LeRoy, who were both at Khe Sanh in April-June 1967. Ms. LeRoy is the photographer who took the famous picture of Corpsman Vernon Wike under fire in combat on Hill 881 on or about May 4, 1967, at the moment he realizes in anguish that the Marine he is giving first aid to is already dead. This and other pictures were published in the May 19, 1967 edition of LIFE Magazine. Also wondering if anyone knows the identity of the Marine casualty in that photo. Thanks, and.GOD BLESS OUR VIETNAM VETERANS!
