. . Contributed By SrA Benjamin M. Au On Wednesday, November 20, 2002
I am a Senior Airman in the USAF, currently in Airman Leadership school. As part of our graduation ceremony, we wish to do a tribute to those who were fighting a war over the holidays throughout our nation's history. If anyone is willing to share any letters they wrote home during the holidays from Vietnam, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, SrA Benjamin M. Au

Trying to find a relative of my good friend
. . Contributed By Roland Hicks On Thursday, November 21, 2002
Trying to find a relative or friend of my good old friend PFC William J Powell who I believe lost his life in Vietnam. His name can be found on panel W 52 line # 46. I am not sure this is the Bill Powell I knew and played basketball wtih in high school, but I think it is, and want to try and verify that if possible. The last thing I got from Bill was a funny letter and a picture of him in a fox hole with him holding a new rifle. The letter was dated June 29, 1968. We were pretty close as buddies. He graduated in 1967 from Socastee H.S. That is very near Myrtle Beach, S.C. I graduated a year later, '68. This last letter to me had the following return address: PFC Wm J Powell 2338698, Puuloa R.R. Det., Marine Bks USNB, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, FPO S.F. Calif 96610. According to the records at the wall the William J. Powell, who I'm thinking was my high school buddy, died 17 Jul 1968. This was 18 days after his last letter to me. I would really like to find out if he died or did we just loose touch after high school. Is the William J Powell inscribed on "The Wall" another William Powell (a fairly common name) that I never knew, or is it indeed my friend, or is my friend Bill still alive possibly somewhere on this earth? If anyone out there has any ideas on how I can verify this please contact me. I have been wondering about this for 35 years now.

My email response to you was returned as "non-deliverable. However, your friend's service number does not match that of the serviceman you suspected as being him. His was 2292693, which means he in not your friend!

Finding MY MIA
. . Contributed By Beckie Schuster On Friday, November 22, 2002
I Just wanted to share with all who come here, that after 30 years of holding dear to my heart, the name and the bracelet of Jerry Glenn Bridges, I finally found him. I posted here, about my experience and within a week, one of his relatives, kindly contacted me, and shared pictures of Jerry and told me how he finally was brought home. Jerry was one of the five servicemen brought home in 2000, with full honors held at Arlington Cemetary, and later taken home to Tennessee where he could rest near his family. I just wanted you all to know, to never give up hope of finding your MIA or POW, and if you are diligent and pray, and never give up hope, you too will be as blessed as I was.
