REMEMBER WHEN?
. . Contributed By Chaplain Howard Flexer On Sunday, January 12, 2003
Remember when we'd pray for just another day? Along time ago I remember asking God for just one thing, just to be able to ask him again tomorrow. So that went on for some of us for over a year till we returned home from Nam. I wonder how many of us now take the time to step back and thanked God. Did you thank him for all the prayers He had answered so long ago? If you think it was luck that got you here then you should be a winner at everything you bet on. If you prayed to God when in Nam than don't forget Him now. God was there with me and now I'm one of His helpers. I feel I have a debt I can never repay. I know He never sent me a bill. No repayment was asked for or required. It was given freely and you don't see that often enough. All I'm saying is that with God you and I can not go wrong. I'm not asking much. Just take a little time to think about what I've said here. Chaplain Howard Flexer Vietnam War Veterans Flagstaff & Memorial February 8, 2000

A Poem Of Freedom
. . Contributed By Storm W. Draheim On Tuesday, January 14, 2003
I want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody hands. He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from months of battle and emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war. He stands tough, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at us now in anger and disgust and tells us this. I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your children graduate too illiterate to read it. I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains. I left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business. I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people. It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press. It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech. It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate. It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag! "Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen." Prayer Wheel: When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our U.S. ground troops in Afghanistan, and the ones facing deployment to Iraq at this very moment - AND all over this world. There is nothing attached. This can be very powerful. Of all the gifts you could give a US Soldier, Prayer is the very best one.

. . Contributed By Gayle Miller On Wednesday, January 15, 2003
I am hoping to find someone who knew Terry. He was killed in Quang Ngai in February 1969. I am a graduate student at Johns Hopkins and am designing a memorial to Terry as part of my thesis. He was from Maryland, had red hair, and was engaged to my next door neighbor, Lynda. If you have anything to share, please contact me. Thanks

REMEMBORING
. . Contributed By Cheryl Kutheis On Thursday, January 16, 2003
I just wanted to say that as a teenager I watched all of the news I could get relating to the war. Now at 48, I still have such a deep feeling of grief and sadness over the losses. I haven't been to the Wall in Washington. I have only been able to see the mobile Wall. I was so moved by it that I don't even know if I could make it through a vist to Washington. God bless those who suffered and those who died during this terrible tragedy, and thank you for your service.

Fake Vet James "Jim" Huff

Im writing this post because i really care about the dignity of all real vets, Im sorry to say that I have encountered one , I can certainly say he a fake, Telling people at my work place that he is a vietnam vet and how he remembers wanting to kill with his his issue knife ,that he had no idea what the name of the knife he was using, Tells people about how he killed women and children, and make it out to be glorious, I can remember him telling me that he was in the 17th regiment rangers, to my knowlegde, there have never been a 17th ranger regiment, then he goes on to tell other people that he was in the special forces, and he was a green beret, He is so sloppy with his lies, and if he kept his story straight, maybe it might have been believable, but he cant even remember where the name of the fort, apparently he was in vietnam in 1965-1967, I do knothat his whole life he has been getting through on "Bravo-Sierra" and he is now a plant manager, I hate to see someone get through in life on lies, and getting a free ride, on backs of real special forces heros, and vets like yourselfs, His name Is JIM HUFF he works for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, in California , At the Water Bottling Facility, you might want to check with human resources, (909)862-6957 ask for jim huff and have a talk with him
