My letter to Editor printed in todays paper
. . Contributed By Chaplain Howard Flexer On Monday, March 03, 2003
Monday, March 3, 2003 "Hanoi wrong place for VFW presence" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Editor: First, Vietnam is still a communist country. It did not follow any of the peace treaty. The only reason a U.S. presence is there is for the big-bucks companies. In most other places they are we have our bases there, also. I have nothing against the people of Vietnam. I don't expect others to understand my feelings. I cannot deal with a veterans group that will join those companies and set up an office in Vietnam. My membership with the VFW has always been on thin ice. I have no problem with those who choose to live and work there. That's their choice as mine is to resign in disgust. Yes, I operate a motorcycle that was made in Japan. That was not my war and this one was. We all have our way of dealing with those wars. Just like I never let others forget about Vietnam and perhaps my take on letting go would let down those who never returned. It's my way of saying no to their (VFW) choice. Enough said. "Semper fi" means always faithful and, to me, that's what I am to those who died in my arms. Semper fi, with God. CHAPLAIN HOWARD FLEXER Vietnam War Veterans Flagstaff & Memorial Danielson

Robert J. Hibbs

Some kids think that a hero is Superman or is on TV. But I know that a real hero is a young soldier that gives his life so that other Americans can be free. That is exactly what Robert J. Hibbs did. He is a hero.
