LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY . . Contributed By James Patrick Casey On Thursday, October 12, 2000 During late winter/early spring of '68, I commanded 3rd Platoon Charlie Company 3rd Battalion 1st Infantry 11th Light Infantry Brigade. We operated out of LZ Liz in Quang Ngai Province. I was badly WIA 6/12/68 and evacuated out of country. I spent 18 months getting pieced back together at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. and was retired as a result of my wounds. I was 20 when I was hit. Were we that young and did we walk on the edge of a razor blade for so long? To all of my fallen comrades, I love you.
