I was recently working in Southeast Asia and visited Saigon, Vietnam. I purchased a military identification tag from a woman on the street and wanted to return it to a family member of it's former owner. Unfortunately, I have written to the military records division of the US government and because I did not have any additional information, other than what is on the tag I was unable to receive any direction. I am trying to contact people who knew my dad Ronald James Dexter and/or my mom Bobbie Dexter, we were in Germany in the 50's and early 60's. My dad served in Vietnam in 1967 and our family came to Texas before he left, we stayed here when he didn't make it back. If you think you may know my family please contact me. My brother served in the Co. C 4th Bn.(Mech.)23rd Inf. 25th Div. He was in Vietnam from 7-23-67 to 9-2-67. He was K.I.A. at Hua Nghia, So. Vietnam in an A.P.C. Does anyone remember him? He took Basic at Fort Leonard Wood,Mo.

MY DAD SERVED WITH THE 9TH ID AND THE AMERICAL DIV. HE WAS IN VIETNAM I THINK IN 67-68 AND AGAIN 69-70.HE WAS A COMBAT MEDIC WITH THE INFANTRY IF ANYONE OUT THERE KNEW HIM THEN PLEASE E-MAIL ME. HE WAS A SPC 4 OR SPC 5 AT THE TIME.

IT WAS HARD FOR HIM TO PRONOUNCE MY GRANDMOTHERS NAME , TUYEN THI NGUYEN , AND SO HE CALLED HER ROSE . HE HAD A BABY GIRL WITH GRANDMOTHER , WHICH IS MY MOTHER HONGMAI THI NGUYEN . IN THOSE YEARS THEY'VE BEEN TOGETHER HE LEFT VIETNAM AND SAID HE'LL COME BACK IN A MONTH OR SO . INSTEAD HE CAME BACK A YEAR LATER ,BUT LEFT AGAIN FOR GOOD . IT HAS BEEN SO LONG ,MY MOTHER HAS BEEN SEARCHING FOR HIM SINCE 1983 WITH LITTLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION . THE U.S ARMY WASN'T ABLE TO HELP HER SEARCH FOR HER FATHER . My father is now ready to talk about his time in Vietnam and I am trying to help. My husband and I are taking him to D.C. to visit The Wall in May. I am interested in finding anyone who served with him. His name is Harvey Smiley, he was in Co. B, 39th Engineering Bn in Tuy Hoa starting in 1967. I don't have much info as he is just now starting to talk. We have started colletibles for him and I am doing a scrapbook for him.
