Wanting to understand
. . Contributed By Sarah On Thursday, April 25, 2002
I had a family memeber in the Vietnam war,and I am a student learning about it in school. I have asked my family member about his experiences in the war and he chooses not to talk about it. I have so many questions and no answers. Please if you are willing to share your stories with me I would love to hear about them. I just want to be able to understand the history of my country.

Any information that can be given to me about the My Lai massacre would be great. I am a college student at Portland State University in Oregon and am writing a paper about human reactions and behavior in war. I am using My Lai as a starting point. I am not a judge. Any information you give me would be appreciated and if need be, your name will be kept out of anything I write. Thank Yyou.

Happy Birthday, Harold, You are not forgotten.
. . Contributed By Carl Herrmann On Wednesday, May 01, 2002
I visited this site, this wall, to see whose birthday's were today. I got alittle emotional, Harold, when i went to your info page and realized that it was your birthday today. I just wanted some way to let you and maybe your family know that i wanted to wish you another happy day, up there with the big guy. Hope you are fine. I wish i could call my dad and remind him of this but it might sadden him too much. Like i wrote to you in your info page, dad is riding for you in D.C. on Memorial Day like every year and he wants me to ride on the back with him. I would be honored, i want to ride with him for that cause and for your memory. He tells me a new bit of vietnam everytime i go to visit him. I learned of you back in 1993 when he started to open up about his time in Vietnam. Dad organized a reunion in 1999 with the Recon Unit and rounded up 30 guys. They dedicated the reunion to you and others lost in the unit. Well, Harold, I feel better writing for you and not letting this day go unnoticed. You would have been 53 today. Happy Birthday, Harold Earl Musselman, LCpl. USMC 1st Force Recon Battalion. From a Marine to another, Semper Fi.

Alton Doyle Byrd- My Father
. . Contributed By Susan Byrd-Lane On Saturday, May 04, 2002
My dad's tour of duty began Sept. 29th, 1969 and he died Sept. 16, 1970 in BINH DIHN, South Vietnam. He was in the 4th Infantry Divison with the 704th Maint. Bn. I was 12 years old when I lost him and I would love to see, hear anything anyone that knew him could share with me. No one has ever replaced him in my life and it has been a long time with no word, Please most of the men that would have been with him are about 73 years old, memories fade and all soldiers go to a place to regroup, I know I will see him again through the grace of Jesus but something to hold me over until then would be a peace of mind. So if you knew him please email. Thanks and God Bless.
