Australian 'Memorial'- battling local bureaucracy
. . Contributed By Don Tate On Sunday, December 22, 2002
Calling all Vietnam veterans.I'm an Australian Vietnam veteran, ex-infantry, wounded in action 19th July, 1969, hospitalised for over 2 years, and permanently disabled. Me and a few mates planted over 200 trees as a 'commemorative walk' on behalf of local Vietnam veterans, but our Council won't allow a plaque acknowledging it. More info, photos etc (and some writing you Americans might find of interest at my site) and there is an on-line petition at http://www.PetitionOnline.com/vvlm230/petition/html Please help fight the same gutless bureaucracy we've been fighting for over three decades. Regards, Don Tate ex-4th and 9th Battalions

My CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2002
. . Contributed By Chaplain Howard Flexer On Monday, December 23, 2002
Christmas Message 2002 Here is another Christmas and not much has changed. For most I hope it's a joyful time of year for you. Sadly it never last as long as it should. In my case it seems to always bring me back to those that have been on the sad side. Trying to stay on track and look at all I'm grateful for seems to get hard as I deal with the day-to-day things and the time to reflect never seems to find a spot. I want to say to all of you who know me even if it's just through this medium that I am proud to know you also. I want to wish all of you the warmest of holidays and the outlook of a great new year. I guess we are lucky to always get a new year to start over again and have the chance to make it better than the last. For some of us that becomes a harder job knowing many never got the chance. So I try to think that what I do I'm doing for them. They may be fellow Combat Veterans, Family members, or just friends now gone. I know we are just ourselves and cannot know what they would have been, But doing your best is all anyone can ask for. My main thought is enjoy this time of year. Just think of it as a break from the past year. Perhaps that's why He was born on December 25th just before a new year starts. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to all! May God bless you and your loved ones. Chaplain Howard Flexer Vietnam War Veterans Flagstaff & Memorial December 23. 2002

Larry "Butch" Whitt, USAF

My father served a couple of tours in Vietnam, he survived to return home. But I would like information on getting his name on the wall if possible. On July 05, 1992 he passed away from Hodgkins Disease, which is stated in his medical records that he obtained from the Agent Orange. He suffered two bouts with this horrible cancer, but lost the battle, so the war did kill my father also. He is my hero, his name also deserves to be on the memorial. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help now and for all your help then!
