Before my feet hit the floor this morning I said a prayer for all HEROES, those still with us and those resting in the presence of our Master. I, like many thousands I'm sure, attended my local Memorial Service this morning and as I listened to Taps being played I could not control my tears while thinking of all the families who were also reliving a lot of proud yet painful memories. We only had one Gold Star Mother in our assembly and as I walked up to hug her before leaving I wondered just how the Mothers of each of you felt when you left for service to this Great Nation and also how she could endure the loss of 2 sons. I just wanted to THANK EACH OF YOU. You're never forgotten by me.

To them I just want to say this: Heavenly Father, please let the rest of us live our lives in such a manner, so that when our name shall be called for the last time; those we leave behind will say of us, as we say NOW of you. "Here lies all that is mortal, a fearless and proud defender of their Freedom, their Nation, and their loved ones." REST IN PEACE. WILL SEE YOU SOON.

Gerald Douglas Spradlin

I would like to make contact with the family of WO Gerald Douglas Spradlin, KIA in Vietnam, May 29, 1972. He was the pilot of a helicopter that was shot down and my 1st cousin, Sgt. Larry K. Morrow was the observer. Larry was never located and is still listed as MIA. My uncle (Larry's dad) had been in contact with the Spradlin family but he has since died and now I would love to contact someone in the family.

Goodbye Buddies

Though I've looked for years I've never found you. Manuel, Charlie a few others. It would have been nice to say hi. You remain the most important people in my mind. The Doc says a few more months but he's being optimistic.Agent Orange they say but I don't think so. No chemical's gonna kill me. Just bad luck. I have only one regret, that I couldn't say see you one last time.

Hi, I'm 19 and I'm vietnamiese but I'm living in France (so don't pay attention to my bad english). I don't know if I can ask you this question but I can try. I want to find a site where I could meet american ex-servicemen (through letters or e-mails) who were in the south vietnam during the Vietnam war. You should wonder why do I need to do that ? Shortly, on day my mother told me that my grand-uncle lived in a beautiful house, and the americans soldiers who went in front of this house, took a lot of photos. In my family in France, no one has a photo of this house and no one knows if it still exists. Is it possible to have an adress of an association or a site where I can do my researches ? If you can help me, please contact me with my e-mai. Thanks.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2005

Today, patriotism runs high and we thank and honor those soliders in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many, many Americans wave the flag, many fly the flag in their front yards, many have car bumper stickers of the flag. All in the name of Freedom. All this was not afforded to the Vietnam Veteran on his return. Maybe today, those on the WALL, will be truly remembered as "fighters of freedom". Memorial Day and Veterans' Day are days to remember the veteran, but the Fourth of July is for celebration of FREEDOM. And who protects that freedom, the armed forces and men like those on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Lest we Forget. They gave their all for us.
