Randy it was 35 years ago today that you died just outside of Khe Sanh. A piece of me died that day with you. Dennis, Jim, Doc, Paul and the rest of the guys miss you. Your sister Wendy has forgiven us for not bringing you home and it has helped. Your are not gone nor forgotten buddy. You live in all of us each and every day. We all Love and Miss You. Your thoughts are appreciated and most appropriate for some. For me, a little too idealistic and much higher than I was thinking at the time. I volunteered for the draft just to get it over with. Through a series of circumstances, I ended up walking point for nearly ten months because I couldn't bring myself to ask someone else to do it. I shut down my emotions because they were a distraction from my immediate surroundings. They said I was good at my job because I came home. I secretly knew it wasn't because of me. Back in the World, anger and cynicism became my normal response to humanity which couldn't do better than Vietnam. After 30 years of desperately trying to do it my way, I discovered I had lost the battle. Only then was I able to accept the fact that it really wasn't about me after all.

firet of all I would like to salute all veterans who served in Vietnam and all wars,the United States have fought. The reason why I'm writing this letter is to see if there is anyone out there who can help a fellow vet. his name is Vincent L. Garrido who served in vietnam in 1967,68.he was wounded in the line of duty, Vince was shot in the right knee,after serving in vietnam he was permanently disable where he could never walk the same, he could'nt hold a job because he was'nt able to stand long enough, or because he walk with a limp.Vince was classified as 10% disability by the V.A. since he left Vietnam he was never able to hold a steady job,was'nt getting any pension from the V.A. or in title to be seen at the naval hospital here in Guam.Vince now is 58 years old, and still trying to get assistant from the V.A. because we live in Guam and we are so far from the U.S. mainland,veterans are not really being look into on this side of the world.All I'm asking is for anyone who can help our fellow vets here in Guam and around the world who maybe in the same situation as Vince,to please come foward and give us a call and let us know what to do and how to go about in helping out a fellow vet.Note: Vince Garrido served with the big RED ONE infantry division,Vince is also from the island of Guam,which is a territory of the United States,which the chamorro's who are the indiginous people of the land, have served in every war the United States have fought,since World War -I I'm the first cousin of Vince Garrido who should I say was only 3 yaers old when the Americans entered the war in Vietnam,I feel for all Vets who have gone or who are still with us who may be in the same situation ,that they get the help they the deserve. Let Us Not Forget The Sacrifice that they gave to there Country. Thank You and may GOD BLESS every Veteran and there Family.

I am Dons little sister. I would love to talk to someone who served with him in Vietnam. he died in 1968. on a helicoptor. I do not have very much information. My parets are now dead so I have no one to ask about him. After he was killed I couldn't ask any questions for obvious reasons I was young when he died.

Dale K Porterfield

This was the Day Dale died in Vietnam. He was the doorgunner on a Huey supporting trops in Quang Tri during the Easter offensive. His Huey was hit by a surface to air missile which were now being used below the DMZ. Dale was on the missing list for a few months but efforts finally retrived him a few months later. He was very young and I think he wanted to make the service his career. He had a wife and child to take care of and I think that's what motivated him.Dale has crossed my mind many times over the years. Usually when my thinking gets out of line I remeber Dale's words. He had a very clear way of looking at things.

Christopher George Washington from Orange Mile, Tenn., was one of the best friends in the USMC. I lost track of him after Camp Lejeune, N.C. Had heard he was a casualty in Viet Nam and haven't been able to locate him. Do you know him? Is he alive (hopefully).
