The WHS 50th reunion was yesterday. We honored your memory with the other 'silent knights' . You were there in my heart. We had many a carefree joking time .. In autoshop class, driving around town in the old B10 Volvo, dating the same girls. Your spirit and joy for life was infectious to all. It was a blessing to know you.

The Man in the Arena
It is not the critic who counts not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood who strives valiantly who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming but who does actually strive to do the deeds who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions who spends himself in a worthy cause who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

I have not forgotten you.
I was still in high school when I started wearing a POW/MIA bracelet, bearing the inscription Spec 5 Stephen Geist. I wore it proudly, for many years, always feeling a connection with you, although I did not know you. Countless prayers were said... I have never forgotten you, and never will. Thank you, Sir, for your service, for you giving your life. I am deeply grateful to have held this honor, and will continue to hold you up in prayer. God Bless you, Sir.

I was in high school when the POW/MIA braclets came out, and like all my friends ordered one. The name on my braclet was that of Spec.5 Stephen Geist. I wore my bracelet proudly for many, many years, always keeping Stephen in my thoughts and prayers. I still have my bracelet. Spec. 5 Stepehn Geist and his family will always be in my prayers.

All though i did not know him i did a project on him for my nsl class. I went to the wall and bought his bracelet and sketched his name onto a piece of paper. I have read alot about him and he seems like a great man. He may have died and never found but we all feel like he is still with us. I am sorry to all thoes who knew him and never saw him after he left that day to go to war and i give my regards.

Corrections
Stephen's dates, are incorrect. He was reported MIA., on Sept., 26, 1967, location is Vietnam. The Wall has this, as the date, his tour began. He was only, 21, years old, turning 21, on April 12, 1967, not 27. The 1974, date, is the date, that Jimmy Carter, with the help of Max Cleland, head of Veteran's Affairs, changed the status of all our POW/MIA's., to PFOD.. That is the date, the Wall has recorded, as the date of the accident. Please note this correction, of Stephen. Over the years, due to his last radio contact, I firmly believe that his plane, now went over into Cambodia, or was already there. His file will not, be revisted again, unless new information, is forth coming. Although two, seperate stories, come out of Cambodia, about Stephen, his place of loss is Vietnam? No crash sight, has ever been found, from the coordinates of last contact. We still wait, hoping, something new will come forth, about his crash sight. Until then, his file is place, on inactive.
