Salute
As the traveling wall came through our town, I asked my uncle Ray Fulton if he would like for me to scribe any names from the wall. There was a short pause and he said ' my General & mentor Bruno Hochmuth!' You must have been one hell of a man... I salute you today for Ray Fulton and every other Marine Sir! Ray served 4 years in nam and came home safe. I know it was because of what you taught him....

Neighbor
Sir: We were neighbors for a short time on Browning St. and Lynn and I went to PLHS together. We chatted briefly sometimes when you mowed your lawn, which always impressed me that a 2 Star MCRD Commandant mowed his own lawn. I saluted your name at a mobile Wall in Dana Pt. yesterday and pray that we meet again at a Heavenly Muster. Don Dodson, SGT/E5, US Army, Vietnam 1969-1970

You are not forgotten
I will never forget that sunny day in mid-October 1965 as my boot camp platoon proudly marched across the parade ground and you saluted us. I felt so much pride in graduating and in receiving your salute. Then just 2 years later on a cold rainy November 14, 1967 while serving with HMM-364 at Phu Bai, RVN we received word that a Marine chopper had gone down. I will never forget that day either, as I learned you were in that chopper. We had been celebrating a belated Marine Corps birthday but after learning of your death none of us wanted to celebrate anymore. Semper Fidelis Sir.

God Bless You Sir
The General was my commanding officer in boot camp at MCRD San Diego PLT 284 March 1966. I met him once during an inspection and was impressed immediately not only by his rank but as a man and Marine. I could tell by his interactions with us that he appreciated his Marines and cared for us. I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ blesses him and his family. James M. Honor Guard
I had the distinct previledge and most high honor to serve as Honor Guard at General Memorial Service held at the 3rd MarDiv Chapel. I can tell you that nothing since then has made me as proud to be a Marine Honor Guard for our fallen Commanding General. General Hockmuth is remembered in my prayers each night. I did not meet the General one on one directly but our paths crossed at 3rd MarDiv HQ in PhuBia. Thank you General for your distinquished service to the Corps and the thousands of men and women you commanded over your 30 years of service. Semper Fidelis.....former Cpl
