Dan O'Brien kb1bej@netscape.net Soldier and Friend 16 Meggison Ln Holyoke, Ma 01040 USA Our Unit Medic Fred. You were a good friend and a good medic. After months of traveling with A Btry 1/83rd Arty , C Btry was short a medic at Fire Base Blaze. It was a trek you had made with us on the way to the A Shau on Rt 547. We stayed at Cannon and you were sent back to Blaze. The next time I flew into Blaze was for your taps and field service. Incoming rounds destroyed the powder bunker. I still see your smiling face and big brush of a mustache telling me. " You were bit by a spider and thats why your hand is 3 times it's size, if you feel okay, then it's not poisonous. Thanks Doc Paddleford for the ultimate sacrifice. We miss you. SSG Dan O"Brien USAR RET Tuesday, April 18, 2000 |

John Frascello CopNJax@aol.com Fellow high school studen Orange Park,Fl 32065 USA Just ONE of MANY HEROS! Fred, I can still vividly remember you giving a talk to the senior class at Forrest High School. You came in uniform and seemed very, very proud to be serving in the armed forces. You'd already been wounded and sent home when you gave your talk to all of us, but, as I recall, you insisted on going back to Nam. It was then, that you were killed by a land-mine. God Bless you, Fred.I, for one, DO still think of you quite often! Sunday, February 20, 2000 |
