Anthony Tome anthonytome@comcast.net Friend 5240 Sun Dial Place Boulder CO 80301 USA Remembrance of you It has been awhile since I was here. I see Peter Ayett is faithful to your Anniversary. Ever since I have read Peter's chronicles of the recovery of the remains of his lost comrade, the erection of a memorial to him and to you in Vietnam, his account of their visit to Vietnam, and correspondence with your family, I have been at peace. The montage to you (seen in a post below) remains on my office wall and is a daily reminder of all you meant to me. The final peace came when I could get the etching of your name (shown in the photo) from a traveling version of the Wall here in Boulder, CO. I was in Washington, D.C. often but could never make it to the Wall. As I said, I couldn't make it to Bernie so Bernie came to me.
I received a request to provide photos and recollections of my timje in Vietnam. When I came home from Nam, it was 1969 the protest were at its height. I was going back to Duquesne and the war and its participants weren't popular. I learned to keep my mouth shut. Now, everyone wants to hear of our involvement, but I can't brong myself to talk of it.
Lite a Stoogie, put some shrimp on the barbie, and pop the top from a Fosters. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice. Today the government is in a shutdown. As a result I am currently unemployed. Congress is getting paid, well our fighting men and woman are not. Navy Seals just risked their lives to bring terrorists to justice and the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan continues. Oct 6, 2013 |

Jeannie Scott jeanniesc0tt@hotmail.com Niece Pittsburgh PA Uncle Bernie,
You wouldn't have known me while you were alive, as I'm the youngest daughter of your youngest sister. Since my cousin (and your namesake) Bernadette posted a link to this page, I've visited multiple times. It's inspiring to read about how you've impacted so many people across the world. I just graduated from Duquesne (with honors!) an occasion made even more special considering we now share an alma mater. Happy Memorial Day, and thanks for being an inspiration all the days of the year. May 28, 2012 |

Anthony Tome anthonytome@comcast.net Friend and Comrade 5240 Sun Dial Place Boulder CO 80301 USA My Tribute to Bernie
Another Memorial Day has come. A day to honor our heroes who have fallen in the field serving their country and their fellow man. It is one day when the country remembers the sacrifice that persons like Bernie have made. Coming here also demonstrates the sorrow and emptiness of those who loved those persons. I don't wait until Memorial Day to honor Bernie, I honor him daily. The posted picture is my tribute to his memory. May 28, 2012 |

I remember the guns going off at the funeral. I remember your crazy mustache and how you would take me places when my other brothers all left me behind. I now know you are truly special and I know how proud I am to be your sister. Until we meet again.........
