Here it is Memorial Day 2011. I haven't posted much recently, but I do visit your page on occassion. I now have an etching from the Wall of your name hanging in my office. It is an everyday remembrance of your sacrifice. It has brought me a measure of closure. May 30, 2011 |

By: Lt. Col. John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
THANKS AGAIN AUSSIE FRIENDS FOR THE POPPIES! Nov 11, 2010 |

Anthony Tome anthonytome@comcast.net Friend and Comrade 5240 Sun Dial Place Boulder CO 80301 USA In Memoriam
Peter Aylett has posted here many times. He has a personal attachment to Bernie. What has not been posted here is a picture of the memorial erected by Peter and others to the memory of Bernie and the fallen Australian and Vietnamese comrades who served with Bernie and their untiring efforts to recover the crash site. I have attached a picture of that memorial so kindly sent me by Roy Zeglers.
The location is on Long Hai Mountain, Vietnam. No words of mine can express the gratitude and sorrow of the lose of a beloved friend and those he fought for and served with. Nov 11, 2009 |
