Dan  Towers wweye@mchsi.com childhood friend 5th grade, sixth grade. Intermediate and high school. Listened to the circumstance why you would depart. Thought of how I could go with. Admired you. You, as a brother. It was your turn to acknowledge my weakness. You were kind. You were resigned. You were strong. You were good. God gifted to me, you, as a friend. Almost 50 years, gone. My second time at the piers was for the damage done... i can never accept your loss in exchange for the trade. Easter, 1968. i left my heart in/at port chicago. An important part of childhhood shared with you. My adult life marked with your loss and dad's teaching from Siapan and Okinawa, 1944. What is mine, if not my friendship with you? The 'who' and the 'what' that took you from us... miss you. Love to the grand fellow you are. Aug 19, 2012 |

Cindy Durant cmodurant@windstream.net cousin 1006, E., Silver Shoals Rd., Toccoa, GA., 30577, USA Honoring You Allen-Boy, (as your grandparents, liked, to call you) I never got, to really, know you, even though we're related, but I knew, everything, about you through your grandparents, whom I loved. What a fiery and wonderful pair, they were and they loved, their only grandson, so much. Each time, I go to The Wall, my heartaches. The rub of your name, makes a connection through time, space and thought. Hab. 2:11 says, "For the stone, will, cry out, from The Wall and the rafter, will answer it, from the frame work." We are surely, reminded, of the cruelties, of war and how great, the sacrifice. Thank you, for the life, you lived. Your family and the American people, honor you. Mar 28, 2008 |

Robert Leon robertleon@sbcglobal.net Platoon 1068 MCR 4105, Windsor Point Place, El Dorado Hills, CA., 95762, USA Easter 1968 When I last spoke to you, it was at the USO., in Oceanside. We were both, kind of quiet as you were heading, to Nam and I had orders, to go. Our time in boot camp, was over and our MOS's, were different. It was a difficult time, as we both kind of knew, where we were, finally ending up and hoping, we would come home. As fate, made me a casualty reporter, in Quang Tri, for the 3rd Marine Division, I remember that Easter, when your name came across, my desk. I remember how bad, it felt and how I cried inside because now the war had personally, touched me and I was helpless. I've never forgotten, that moment. It's been years, now and still, after my family and I say hello, whenever we get a chance, whether it's in Wash. D.C, Sacramento, or through the traveling wall, the pain, doesn't go away. I only hope, that your family knows, that old Marines like me, still and will always, remember and respect, the sacrifices they made. I know, you're with God, now and always. I hope your family, has found peace, and as always, I'll continue to pray for you. Semper Fi, Brother. Friday, June 09, 2006 |
