Ken  Griffin kgriff2@msn.com Teacher/Friend The last time I saw Lon was after Basic Training. He shared with me how proud he was to be a new father and to see his baby son. He said he was ready for advance training and to go to Viet Nam. He was ready to serve his country. If Lon were alive today, there is no doubt that he would be proud of his son James and what he became.
I've carried Lon in my heart all these years because he is an example of America's finest who gave his life for all of us. I was privileged to have known Lon when he was in high school and his character and leadership qualities were clearly obvious then.
Next week I will be at the Viet Nam Memorial to say goodbye.
