Curt  Bruce cbruce92892aol.com I had been his Lt. Semper Fidelis I had been Sgt. Burton's platoon commander at Camp Pendleton, in Okinawa and for a short time in Vietnam. but I was the Bn. IntelO during Operation Orange. He was a fine Marine and I have fond memories of him. He was always squared away and he kept his Marines the same way. I was not with him the day he gave his life for Corps and country. I shall have to live with that.
Semper Fidelis,
Curt Bruce

John Hagler jnha@comline.com Served with him Sgt., Burton was, my squad leader. I was his first, fire team leader. I served with him, from the time he joined, Kilo, Co., 3rd, Bn., 5th, Marines, at Camp Pendelton, until that fateful day, in that sun baked rice paddy, when he was killed. Sgt., Burton was, a fine Marine and a good man. I'am so sorry, that he wasn't able to be the outstanding father, that I know he would have been, to his son. For the last 42, years, there hasn't been a week go by, that I haven't, thought of him. SEMPER FI! Jul 12, 2008 |

Elwood .  Dixon Jr. Sonny32@bellsouth.net son of a friend 43 Toth Ave Coatesville PA. 19320 US locating Heroes from my home town http://thewall-usa.com/guest_post.asp?recid=7019 I was 5 when the war started, yet I entered the war before it was over. I never saw Vietnam, I survived three wars and still I am thankful for those in Vietnam who stood their ground. As a young man I watched my neighbors go to war and come back a different person. I understood much later why. Today,I thought I would look for the heroes from Coatesville and found 11 casualties. I didn't recognize any names, however, I spoke to my father who knew two. He knew Donald Burton from high school and knew of the Folks family. He thanked me for mentioning their names and spoke of Donald's family. I want to thank Donald, the others from Coatesville and their families. They are my Heroes. May 18, 2008 |
