John Sheeron johnsheeron@optonline.net I was the "Doc" who worked on Terry 22 St James Ct. West Babylon, N.Y. 11704 USA Let us not Forget I was with Terry on the night of July 3, 1970.He was assigned to Recon 4Th and 23Rd, 25Th Inf. Div.Other medics were Doc Macaferry (Boston)Doc Shroeder(Indiana)Doc Marshall (Texas)Doc Martin (NY). We were attacked by a sapper group during our extraction from Cambodia (Mimot)at Katum, also known as French Fort.Terry was sleeping in a track that was RPG'd.He sustained a massive head wound and never regained conciousness. We were pinned down during the night by morters,RPG's and small arms fire.I'm not sure if David Magnusen was on the same track, he was mortally wounded also.I do know that we had at least 40 people wounded, sucking chest wounds, traumatic amputations etc.A lot of engineers and arty guys who we couldn't identify.I believe 9 guys died.We put them in the mess tent during seperation. We were attacked at approx. 2AM when the first track hit was the "TOC" it was parked right next to the"Medic" track which had been sent forward to Mimot.I personally worked on at least 3 sappers who were torn up. The RVN's arrived at daybreak and attempted to extract info from the sappers. To little to late. The other part of Terry's story is that he was the driver on another track that was RPG'd on May 25 1970. "Chubby" was the TC. We were pinned down in a wooded area outside of Mimot.A Lt Allison had his foot and part of his leg blown off, but we still managed to escape that engagement.I think about Terry and what a "Tuff" redheaded motherfucker he was.Kent Miller (IOWA)was the RTO on that track. I was the medic.Another guy had his leg partly amputated but I don't think that I ever knew his name.Ranger Dan Burch of (Indiana) was on the track behind us and kept firing to keep the NVA from taking the 50 caliber off of the track. We laid in a hole in the middle of a large bunker complex.Alph co.4th/23rd flanked us and came in and rescued us they lost at least 3 people.Another guy named "Miller" who was on a 54 day extension (Alpha Co.)was one of the guys killed. It's been 35 years and I still don't know why I remember this shit but sometimes it all seems like yesterday.I'm sure Terry found peace in the afterlife. He sure was a good guy and I hope this info helps someone. Monday, August 15, 2005 |

Linda Angerer milkdud@bellsouth.net very special friend 1207 arbor ave decatur, al 35601 usa I have not forgotten you Terry, you are on my mind frequently with all the war in the world today. But I thank you and am very "proud" you tried to keep our country safe. I remember the night you called me and told me you were leaving in the morning for boot camp,I cried for days because I couldn't see you before you left. My brother was also in Viet Nam at the time too, so it was hard for me to understand why the ones I loved had to leave. But now that I am older I understand.you will be in my prayers always Terry. Donna Jones Grateful American Citizen Thank you, SP4 Sanders Sorry that SP4 Sanders and thousands of other fine vets like him never had the chance to grow old and enjoy the precious freedom they paid so dearly for. Our birth dates are very close, although we were born 1,500 miles apart. Seems like yesterday we were kids watching Howdy Doody, then came the so called "Police Action." You're my classmates and childhood playmates. Forever will I recall you as the bright-eyed, peach-face teenagers that gave everything they had to an ungrateful nation. You were my heroes then and my heroes now! Sunday, June 16, 2002 |
