We were in the same platoon.
I have thought of Hillbilly many times over the years. We were in the same platoon in Vietnam. I was only a few yards from him when he got killed. That was truly one of the saddest days of my life, but I also have good memories of the times we shared together.

Shelby was my dad's cousin and best friend. He invited some of his closest friend to dinner the night before he left for Viet Nam to say goodbye. He told my dad that night that he would be home in a box. He told my dad that he would never see him alive again, and he didn't.
