Dear Bernie, your anniversary date is upcoming. I have recently been in communication, with one of your nieces. From the content of the messages, you would be extremely proud of her. I'am glad to know, that your family is keeping your memory alive, with each generation and that they have a desire to obtain information, of your life and the circumstances, regarding your death. You should know, how proud they are of you, but maybe you do know. Everyone, who has ever known you, or served with you, is proud of you. You have touched, the heart and soul, of countless persons. You are not really gone, not as long as you are burned indelibly, within the memory of those, who love you. Semper Fi, my friend.

Gooday CAPT., Bernie Albertson, I never had the good fortune, to meet you in life, but feel I know you now. If I had met you, it would have been me, that went with you, not my mate Tom. He had taken my place to allow my leave, such was the bloke, similar to yourself, from what has been told. In FEB., 04, I mounted & led a search to find the site, of A2-767. We were successful. Four Poppies, were placed & a small service held. This was repeated again, in NOV., 05, while gathering further evidence in regard, to one of our missing six, John who also went with you, on that day 35, years, ago. After a full investigative search, has been completed on the site, not without the aid of your countrymen, it is my fervent wish to place a more permanent fixture, for yourself, Tom & John, to remind all who pass of your supreme sacrifice, so we can live in our free countries. I defiantly get the feeling, that I'am not saying anything, you don't already know. Rest in peace, Bernie, Lest We Forget.
