Bob, your funeral, was the first and last, i attended. I remember it, as if it, were yesterday. 40, years, have passed. I recall you made a notation, in my High yearbook, in 1963. Sometimes, I wonder why? Bob, you are the tops, rest in peace. H.B.

My son and I were putting flags on your grave, 40, of them, for fourty, years ago. My son was very touched at seeing how very young, you were and wanted, to know more, about you. We have spent the day learning, what we could about you, I told my son how good you were to all, of us and so want to let you know, that we will always, remember you and your sacrafice, for us. Rest in Peace and know, you, are not forgotten.

Lt., Robert Scott Byrnes
How often, you will have me near you, when wood smoke drifts across the wind, or the sky darkens, in a summer storm - think of me in the days to come, as I'am thinking of you this minute, not gone, or alone, or dead, but part, of the earth beneath you, part, of the air around you, part, of the heart that must not, be lonely.

Bob Byrnes Remembrance, 1968.
ON THE DEATH, OF FRIENDS, IN CHILDHOOD
We shall not, ever meet them bearded, in heaven, Nor sunning themselves, among the bald, of hell. If anywhere, in the deserted schoolyard, at twilight, Forming a ring, perhaps, or joining hands, In games whose very name we have forgotten. Come, memory, let us seek them there in the shadows.
