ROBERT SCOTT BYRNES

Mary Helen (Reilly) Rose
Lebanon, Lebanon, Oregon
Bob and I were classmates, in the 1963, graduation class, of La Sierra, High School, Carmichael, Ca., I remember Bob, as a pleasant, quiet young man. I now, have grandchildren. I wish, that he too had lived, to know this joy. I pray, that these grandchildren never have, to experience war. Mary Helen (Reilly) Rose

Honors, to Lt., Bob Byrnes, (Army) honors to you, for your service and sacrifice, for the South Vietnamese people and the American Republic, in South Vietnam. I did know you, but did attend my freshman year, at La Sierra High. I moved to Fremont and from there, I left and served in Vietnam, two tours. You are a HERO, to all of your Vietnam, veteran brothers and to the American people, who now really has learned the truth of our service and sacrifices, in South Vietnam. I SALUTE you and pray, that your Legend of service will always be remembered, by your friends and family.

Friend, Basic Training, Fort Ord
Bob was one of the first guys, I met in Basic Training. I was a Southern white and he was a Califorian, in a time when segregation, was just ending. Everyone liked Bob. He loved to sing. I can still hear him singing cadence, "You had a good home, but you left (your right) . . A great soldier, Bob was acting squad leader, in basic. When he smiled, his whole face lit up. He remains one of the most unforgetable faces, of my Army career. I just knew he would be one, of the best officers.
