RAYMOND  SCHWARTZ schwartz@gotricounty.com Flew together in F-105's from Thail 163 Everett Comm. Rd. Pinetown NC 27865 USA Friend of Jim Jim and I went to our pre-mission briefing together at Korat RTAFB and then we went our way as separate two mission aircraft. I remember how much Jim looked like his brother Ed and that he was a very quiet person but a good pilot and was well thought of by all.
When I returned to Korat and Jim did not, the word was that he crashed in northern Laos. The word I had was that a slow mover FAC had a target but the weather, as was often the case, was not good for a high speed fighter trying to get under an overcast. There were numerous mountain peaks in the area he was working in. Jim apparently felt confident he could get down to hit the target. Communication with the FAC was lost and there was no further communication and no beeper to indicate a bailout. A sad loss of a bright young man. Jan 6, 2014 |

Michael  McCarty YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN ! Fellow veteran SGT E-5 7th Infantry d.m.z Korea 68/69. 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' from Les Miserables Oh my friends , my friends forgive me that I live and you are gone.
There's a grief that can't be spoken there's a pain goes on and on
Phantom faces at the window. Phantom shadows on the floor.
Empty chairs at empty tables where my friends will meet no more.
Oh my friends, my friends, don't ask me what your sacrifice was for.
Empty chairs at empty tables where my friends will sing no more...

Butch  Lambert papawlambert@starband.net Friend 10099 FM 1565 Poetry tx 75160 USA A long lost friend I met Jimmy when my Dad was stationed at Shepard Air Force Base [1957-1959 time frame]. As we moved in he came over with a group of the guys and made us welcome and invited me to play baseball as it was summer and to go to the Teen Club on the weekend. Jimmy was Captain of our Baseball, Football, and Basketball teams. He was a great leader and made everybody feel valuable and needed.
I have always thought he would have made a great President of our country.
I still cry when I think about the great men like Jimmy that sacrificed their lives for us.
