Anita  Venezia afvenezia@sbcglobal.net stranger Danville CA 94526 USA PS - I found comments on Cardinale with a further search When I posted a comment yesterday, I had not scrolled down the electronic page, where I found others who left words for James Anthony Cardinale,USN - and upon reading the comments, found that he graduated Danville's San Ramon High School and sang in the choir. There were messages to the memory of the young man who died before he turned twenty, and I read the posting by a Pleasanton schoolmate. As Memorial Day is upon us, I became curious about the Wall's only Danville man, who died in Viet Nam in '68, a stranger to me, whose death at 19, set my heart in search of words written by those who may have known him. My granddaughter is a student at the same high school where James Cardinale graduated, SRHS, and she is only four years younger than Danville's hero who died in 1968 so far from home. God rest your soul and thank you for your service and to all those serving our great country. God Bless our troops and God Bless America. Anita Venezia, Danville, California May 19, 2010 |

Anita  Venezia afvenezia@sbcglobal.net stranger PO Box 3401 Danville CA 94526 USA Not Yet Twenty A friend sent a link to the VirtualWall of Viet Nam Vets, and I curiously looked for someone from my hometown of Danville, California. Only one Danville person appeared on The Wall, and there were no posts and no comments. James Anthony Cardinale USN from Danville, gave his life on a distant shore for his country - the USA. He was only 19 when he died in 1968 and, had he lived, would be a 62-year-old husband, father and maybe a grandfather today - but he did not make it and maybe, just maybe there is someone out there who really cares. I never knew him or his family - but for what it is - I had to comment today - because no one else has....God bless our troops and keep them safe...Anita Venezia, a Danville grandmother. De'on Miller deonmiller7@hotmail.com none 1102, West Tyler, Lovington, NM., 88260, USA Gunz Up http://ramosmiller.blogspot.com I just ran, across this hero, on the web, as I was, searching out info., on the Corpsman. I wanted, to take the time, to thank him, his family and comrades. His bravery and sacrifice, are something I can appreciate, as I see it, so much, in my favorite Corpsman, Doc., Duty, the Corpsman, who tried so hard, to save my son's life, in Iraq. God bless, De'on Miller, Proud GSM., of LCpl., Aaron C. Austin, USMC., KIA., April 26, 2004, in Fallujah, Iraq. Jan 16, 2007 |

Michael Brown brownm@syncor.com Friend, from San Ramon, High School 1063, Hopkins Way, Pleasanton, CA., 94566, USA Jim was the last person, that I would have expected to perish, in Viet Nam. I remember him as a very peaceful, artistic fellow. He and I sang together, in the school choir, and ironically, his favorite song was "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream," recorded by the Kingston Trio. The funeral service for Jim is something, that I will never forget. His parents, so unbelievably strong and graceful, and so many friends, from Danville, are testament to what a fine young man, he was. It has been thirty, years, since Jim's death, but I remember his face, his spirit, his gentle soul, as if it were yesterday. Sunday, September 19, 1999 |
