student projects . . Contributed By Richard Chisolm On Wednesday, May 14, 2003 Before responding to requests for help with "vietnam veteran ",projects from students etc,it may help to question the reasons ,motives behind things. Many of these "students" do not respond to questions sent their way. I am not interested in becoming a source of referance as to a grade only project. |

The Vietnam Wall Memorial . . Contributed By Aaron On Saturday, May 17, 2003 I'm in eighth grade. I live in Indiana. I went for a field trip to Washignton D.C. I visited the wall it was very moving. All those soldiers who died for our freedom, and the prisoners of war as well as the missing in action. I feel so helpless. Is there anything I can do to help. So many people died for one cause. Knowing that they might die and never do anything that they used to do ever again. Maybe you can send me information. My email is Chain1691@ Aol.com |

Another life lost. . . Contributed By Jim Lewis On Sunday, May 18, 2003 Pastor Tom Lewis, USMC, Vietnam 1968, passed away 17 May 2003 from complications resulting from agent orange. I am sure there are others out there who have lost loved ones for the same reason. Our veterans are still paying the price. Can we get these recent casualties listed on the wall with the rest of our soldiers who died so long ago? |

MY MEMORIAL DAY THOUGHTS . . Contributed By Chaplain Howard Flexer On Tuesday, May 20, 2003 My Memorial Day Thoughts This Memorial Day My thoughts travel to the military Cemeteries That I have visited. The USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor. The Punch Bowl in Hawaii. Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D. C. They all bring my mind to think about how they lost their lives. I have been with some of them yet to my mind I have been with all of them. They did not die peacefully in their sleep at home or in a clean hospital bed or with loved ones by their sides. I see them being ripped apart by artillery shells. I see them being shot as they walk next to me in the jungle or buildings. I see them as they grasp for the last breath as their ship fills with seawater. I see them as they dive out of control toward earth in their fighters Etc. I see them being stabbed by a bayonet in hand to hand Combat. I see them stepping on a land mine right in front of me as they fly in the air and then dieing in my arms as I try to comfort them. I see them die after being bitten by a deadly snake put there as they crawl in tunnels. I see them dieing in the mud of rice patties. I see them freezing to death as they lay wounded. I and anyone who has been in combat can and still can see those kinds of deaths. I share this with you not to gross you out, but to help you feel and know what War is. It is not cut and dry as in movies or in print. I hope you never have to experience what Combat Veterans have seen. This Memorial Day keep in mind what I have shared with you. Those Veterans were just like you and me. They started out just like us, but they were called to do the extra ordinary and they did it for us! God Bless American and God Bless our Veterans. question about adding new names . . Contributed By Sam On Tuesday, May 20, 2003 My father passed away in sept. 99. He had multiple forms of cancer, all progressing faster than his doctors ever seen. His main oncologist said hes been seeing this happen in more and more men, my fathers generation that were exposed to the agent orange. After his death I did some research on this and found a list of illnesses that the government would pay compensation for. So. obviously that means they are addmiting that they're early deaths are cause by The Vietnam War. Now, I recently heard from my mother that she saw something on the news about adding the names of these fine men and women that are dying 30 years later. Is this true or in the petition stages, anything at all. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. God bless the great men and women that have lost they're lives in war, and the freinds and family they left behind. |
