SSGT CLAUDE (Mick or Mac) MC BRIDE, USA . . Contributed By Clinton "Jack" Zimmerman On Tuesday, June 12, 2001 Does anyone remember Mick, KIA 8/23/63, #51 man killed, awarded Silver Star & Purple Heart, served w/Special Forces? Had a camp named for him in Vietnam (Camp Mc Bride) & street named for him (Mc Bride Street) in Ft Lewis, Washington. Mick was my best friend, came to visit me on R&R while I was stationed in Okinawa. He also had a good Army buddy, Buck Crow that also came on R&R to see me in Okinawa; Buck made a trip to Mick's parents to visit them upon rotation only to learn that Mick had been killed. At the time of his death, I was stationed in Germany & unable to get home. Prior to going to Vietnam, Mick was divorced & had an infant son - status & whereabouts unknown. Mick is at rest now, side by side with his parents in the local veteran's cemetery. I have posted a picture of Mick and a tribute to him on the home page of this site; there is also a tribute from his former CO. I will always keep his memory alive - because you see, I am proud to have been his best friend. Jack Zimmerman.

IN MEMORY OF SP5 ROBERT BENJAMIN PINKERTON . . Contributed By Robert Hernandez On Tuesday, June 12, 2001 I flew with Robert Pinkerton the last three or four weeks prior to his death on November 4, 1965. I want to let his wife, child and parents know that he was a good friend and he loved them very much. I know that he died prior to the birth of his child, but he was very proud and happy that he was going to be a father. He loved his wife and looked forward to R&R in Hawaii, to be with them. Even though we knew each other for a short while, as was the case with most of our friends in VietNam, I admired his knowledge and dedication to his job as crew chief and soldier. I think about him and his family often. Always wondering about his wife and child, who would be about thirty five years old by now. I have grown children of my own and I'm blessed to have seen them grow up as responsible adults, but I still feel that pain when I think about Robert's family. Please know that he loved you very much and he will not be forgotten. GOD BLESS ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE CALL OF DUTY.
