James   Odriozola 1968 TET Survivor 1st Lt .Byrnes Nice guy I was a Marine 176th Aviation Company 40 years ago the jungles devoured my soul. Today I cry as I did those days when my buddies died. May God keep in His heart all of those who did their Part. They gave their lifes for Freedoms sake they will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. They are all my brothers and I continue to pray for each of them. I am a 1968 TET Survivor.... I was a Marine in 1968. I flew as a door gunner with the 176th Aviation Company during a time when Army gunners were in short supply, and Marines from MAG-13 were allowed to fly to help out. My memories of 1Lt Bob Byrnes are quite vivid He jumped a ride with us Lt Byrnes . One of his fellow Lt informed us of his death several days after it happened. I still have the letter that I wrote my parents expressing my thoughts of LT Byrnes he was a real fine Officer . I visit him at the Wall each visit I make. I will be there this coming , May 26, 2008 when I will once again touch Lt Byrnes name. What a hero he was, and a fearless and dedicated Officer From him I have a fondness for the Army few Marines had the privilege to acquire. It was a real HONOR to server with you 1Lt Byrnes May 5, 2008 |

Stephen   Tobin boot camp 1965 Fort Ord Ca. Acushnet, Ma 02743 USA I was in boot camp with Bob, Fort Ord Ca. We were soldiers once.and young. To Bob's family and friends, I'm sorry he was not allowed to serve his country with a long and productive life and that he was asked to pay a price that was not demanded of us all. He was a leader and strong, he helped to make us as good as we were and we were the best platoon in the series. Now Bob walks with the Lord and someday soon we will again see his young face and smile and walk hand in hand in fellowship for eternity in the house of the Lord, Amen. May 3, 2008 |

Mandy   McGuigan Thank you for fighting in the war. I am a student at West Allis Hale High School. We're just finishing out Vietnam unit. Many people don't appreciate the men young and old who have risked and lost their lives in Vietnam for our country. Just know that there are some of us that do. Rest in Peace and God Bless your soul.
