We lost a good guy that day Peace and condolence, to the Byrnes family and friends: May you rest in God's loving arms forever. Thank you for serving our great country & allowing us to breathe freely. May the good Lord be with your family & friends as they think of you often. Lt Bob Byrnes , I salute you for your time .Someone once wrote, "How can it be that someone so young can give their life for their county and so few acknowledge his sacrifice. Some of us care. A simple thank you seems so inadequate, but it is all I have." Bob, rest in peace with the warriors.

Teri   Baker adopted Bluebird Carmichael CA 95608 Now Battle Ground, WA 98604 USA Memories of a little girl I was a member of a Bluebird group (little Camp Fire Girls) and we adopted 1LT Bob Byrnes of Carmichael. We wrote to him and made him cookies and cards. He sent each of us letters and gifts from far away lands. We were so looking forward to meeting him when he returned home. It was the first funeral I ever attended, so memorable, a 21 gun salute and "Taps". Our little 9-year-old hearts broke for a young man most of us just met you came to our school in Carmichael and spoke about the Army we all sent you thank you letters and keep in touch with your family. This is a day I will never forget! I will be going to Washington, D.C. with my grandson during Summer Break this year 2008 and I am very much looking forward to finding the name of my "adopted big brother" on the wall. The treasured memories of a kind, young man will never be forgotten by this little Bluebird!

Riochard   Mumm A Fellow Veteran Cordova, TN 38016 USA Lt Bob Byrnes I mourn your loss and your family's pain
The Vietnam Vet is undoubtedly the bravest American that ever lived! Never in American history had the nation been so against our military, and it's never happened since. They could have burned their draft card, remained in school or defected to Canada, but chose to answer the call of an ungrateful nation. They stood alone! Thirty some years later, I feel great sadness and shame recalling how our heroes were mistreated in their own homeland. The second wound always hurts the worst. Thank you for giving everything you had. I love and respect you all even more now than I did fourty some years ago. 1LT Robert Scott Byrnes. Bob you had made the supreme sacrifice. So many years ago, and so far from your home and loved ones. A fellow veteran pays tribute today to your bravery, your honor, and your commitment to duty. Rest well in Gods loving embrace Brave Solider. You Sir are a TRUE American hero. Today you are remembered by a fellow veteran. Tomorrow you shall not be forgotten by a grateful and proud nation. Because in the rising and setting of the sun, we remember you. In the blowing of the wind and the chill of the winter, we remember you. In the opening of the buds, the blueness of the sky, the rustle of the leaves and the blanketing of the snow, we remember you. When we are weary, lost , and sick at heart, when we have joys to share , we remember you. For as long as we live you too shall live, for you are a part of us always
