Dear Lt., Robert S. Byrnes, the things i have learned and seen, on films about the vietnam war, these past few weeks in history class, have really scared me and made me realize what soldiers actually had, to go through. I thought that you soldiers were some of the bravest people, I have ever met, or heard of, in my life. I know I will never know, how terrifying vietnam was, but the films sure gave me, a better idea and i could really never even think, about leaving all my loved ones to go give my life up, for my country. I want to thank you, for thinking into the future and you really have done so much, for this country and you truly are a hero, in our country's eyes. Thank God, for men like you all, to have the kind of courage and bravery, that you showed.

Dear Bob, I am a Junior and am taking US History. I obviously cannot say that I know what you went through in the jungle. I am too young to have been alive during the time but I feel a connection to this time period in the history of America. I feel that I would have fit in during this time, and you and I might have gotten along. I'm sure there are people down here who miss you greatly. I wish to send my condolences to your family. I've never met them but it's hard to lose a family member. You seem to have led a good life and given a lot to your country. I hope one day, I will be able to meet you. In a place where we don't have to make walls for people who have died and there are no wars. Yours, Maggie

Thank You, Lt., Byrnes

Dear Lt., Robert S. Byrnes, of Carmichael, Ca., I'am a junior, in high school. Recently I have watched a movie, in my US., history class. It truly touched my heart to learn, what you and all the brave men and women in Vietnam have done, for the United States. I wanted to express to you, just how much it means to me, even though I have never actually met you. You are a hero, with a pure heart and soul, who did not just die for his country, but for generations, of children and for peace, among two nations. I could never have done, what did for the United States. You were, so incredibly brave! You were, so young and should have had time, to grow up and live. Instead, you had to grow up, so quickly. Thrown into a world, of violence and all, for the freedom of a nation and peace, for the future. Thank you, so much for serving. May you, rest in peace. Sincerely, Laura
