ROBERT SCOTT BYRNES

Joel Campbell
Every time, I hear the national anthem, I will think of Bob. Every time, I see the Stars and Stripes waving, in the breeze, I will remember your sacrifice. Every time, I place my hand, over my heart and recite, the pledge of allegiance, I will be reminded, of your courageous gift of liberty, to our country. God bless America. Gratefully, Joel Campbell

Robert Scott Byrnes, Lt.
Sanford, NC., 27330, USA
More than an Officer
from 1966-1967. Bob came to us, aroud July, 1968, he gained my respect the frist time, I saw him. To me, he was always Scottie, he was more than a officer, he was like a son to me, I came home Sep., 67, that is the last time I saw him, but friends notified me of his death, that hurt me deeply. He told me, that he was saving as much of his money as he could, he said when I get home I want to buy a brand new Corvette and maybe, get married and go water ski-ing, all day long. He was a good officer. MSG., Tony Antonelli, Retired.

I'am in high school and my grandfather is, a veteran of the war and knew you. I just want say thanks for everything, that you gave, to our country. I don't think, as many people thank veterans for what they did, enough. Thank you, for my freedom and for everything, that I have now. Sincerly, Ben Jeffreys

I know you will stay in the hearts, of all who knew you as you did, my family and friends. God Bless you and your family and may you rest, with the knowledge that you are a true, American hero, from now, for all eternity. Maybe I can find, your family and thank them. Rest in peace.

Bob Byrnes came, into this world the same day, that I did, I joined the Navy just after he was killed in Vietname, in the Army. I was more fortunate, than he and so many others, were. I feel a special bond, with Bob Byrnes - and 14, other Vietnam heroes, like him - because of our High School. Because I only live a few blocks, from The Wall in Washington, I will make it my duty to visit Bob Byrnes name there, from time, to time, so that he, is not forgotten. What a hero, to have given so much for his country, when there were other choices, he might have had. Ed Mulrenin

Lt., Bob Byrnes, was among our group of young leutenants, at Officer's Club, at Fort Sill, OK.. We hung out there, for lunch and adult beverages, after work and wondered, about what our futures held? I remember him as young, enthusiastic, fair and concerned, for his men. He was committed. A gung-ho guy. We learned of his death, in late February, 1968. The news stopped, us all. Byrne's, death and the deaths of other close associates, brought the reality of our situation, into clear focus. He will, always be remembered. I'am pleased, to find him memorialized on this page, for his family and friends. 1st, Lt., Robert { Bob } Byrnes lives on, in our hearts and minds, forever young. I miss him, along with you, all.

There's not a day, that goes by, that I don't think about you, sir. My thoughts, of you are so vivid, you where a caring, thoughtful person, a leader by nature, not by choice. You my friend, lived up to the motto, may you rest in peace, forever. God Bless you, Lt., Byrnes and your family.
